Ube Mochi Pancake Mix: 6/10
The Ube Mochi Pancake & Waffle Mix was a product I was SO excited to try since I really enjoyed the #ube Ice Cream. It’s such a fun and unique idea! Unfortunately, the pancakes were a little on the bland side and were very chewy (due to the mochi). With how much added sugar is in the mix (it smelled like cotton candy when mixing the batter up), the #pancakes did not taste very sweet to me, more nutty and grainy. The slightly strange grainy texture was something I wasn’t necessarily a fan of. I would’ve preferred real pieces of Ube purée mixed in like in the ice cream.
Ube Waffle Mix: 8/10
The waffles, however, were sooo different and delicious that I had to review and rate them on their own. The waffles had a great texture, crispy on the outside and amazingly chewy on the inside. The Ube flavor was light and sweet and reminded me more of the ice cream. I can not believe that the pancakes and the waffles I made came from the same mix because of how different they came out. With the Mochi in this batter, I prefer the crispy exterior of a waffle to balance it out. If you pick up this batter, try it both ways and let me know which you prefer!
This mix is vegan and gluten free. I would love to see a sweet potato pancake mix in the future. It was $3.99 for the box.
Have you tried it yet? Do you prefer Ube waffles or pancakes?
